First, go to your FS2002/aircraft folder.
Then, go to the aircraft you want to repaint (in this case, a beech baron 58) and copy it's "texture" folder. Then paste it into the main aircraft folder (beech_baron_58). It should say "copy of texture". Rename it texture.1
Then, go into notepad and open the airplane's "aircraft.cfg" file.(have word wrap on) It'll say something like this: (this is the Beech Baron's CFG)
[fltsim.0]
title=Beech Baron 58
sim=Beech_Baron_58
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Beech_Baron_58_check
kb_reference=Beech_Baron_58_ref
atc_id=N700MS
ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft
ui_type=Baron 58
ui_variation=White with blue and gold
description=With the wonderful control harmony that is the hallmark of the Bonanza line, the Beech Baron 58 is considered a classic light twin. The Baron 58 is the spiffed-up version of a time-tested favorite, made more modern by its new Continental Special engines. The Baron combines the attractiveness of Beechcraft design with the reliability of twin engines, resulting in a gorgeous workhorse of an aircraft.
Now skip a line under that one and put this (don't CHANGE the original line, just ADD this line! VERY IMPORTANT!):
[fltsim.1]
title=Beech Baron 58 Paint1
sim=Beech_Baron_58
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1
kb_checklists=Beech_Baron_58_check
kb_reference=Beech_Baron_58_ref
atc_id=N700MS
ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft
ui_type=Baron 58
ui_variation=(this is the name of your paint scheme)

Now save it and go to microsoftgames/fs2002/gmax/flightsim/gamepacks/flightsim/imagetool.exe (or DXTBmp.exe)
In there, select your (aircrafts name)_d.bmp and (aircrafts name)_t.bmp files in the aircrafts' texture folder. Convert them both to 24 bitmaps and save them (in DXTBmp, just click "save 24-bit image"). Now open them in a picture edit program (ms paint, paint shop, photoshop, etc.) and edit the repaints. (see PAINTING section.)
Now save the (aircrafts name)_d as a 16-bit 555 format in imagetool and (aircrafts name)_T as 16-bit 555 format.
In DXTBmp, you'll need to click "save extended image" and where it says "DXT3 with alpha" in the box that appears, change it to "Extended 16-bit 555-1", and save over the 2 (aircrafts name)_t and (aircrafts name)_D.bmp files in your texture.1 folder.
Now select your aircraft in FS2002 and have fun with your new repaint!
Keep practicing. It'll soon become second nature to you.
